How Often Should I Get a Cleaning?
It is highly recommended to increase the frequency of professional dental cleanings—ideally scheduling them every three to four months instead of the usual six—to ensure a deeper clean and prevent potential issues. The presence of braces significantly raises the risk of cavities and gum inflammation, making consistent oral care even more critical in preserving the health of your teeth and gums throughout your orthodontic treatment.
General Instructions
- Wear Aligners 20–22 Hours Daily
Remove only for eating, drinking (except water), brushing, and flossing. - Tray Changes
Advance trays as instructed. Use chewies 5–10 minutes daily to seat aligners fully. - Oral Hygiene
Brush and floss before reinserting. If brushing isn’t possible, rinse well to prevent trapped food and bacteria. - Cleaning Aligners
Use a separate soft toothbrush and clear, unscented soap. No toothpaste or hot water. For deeper cleaning, pair retainer-cleaning tablets with an ultrasonic cleaner to remove buildup. - Storage & Handling
Always store in a case and keep away from pets. Never wrap in napkins or leave in hot cars — that’s how they get lost or warped. Contact us promptly for replacements. - If an attachment comes off or trays don’t fit, don’t force them — wear the last good-fitting set and call us.
- Warm salt-water rinses or Tylenol help relieve discomfort. If pain persists or you’re unsure, contact us right away.
Consistency is key! Good aligner care helps avoid delays, keeps your treatment hygienic, and preserves the clear, discreet look that makes Invisalign so popular.
